OH Legislator to Be Sentenced for Misuse of Campaign Funds

Times Leader Online: “Democratic state Rep. Sandra Williams was convicted in October after pleading no contest to charges she converted campaign funds for personal use and attempted to falsify a related campaign finance report. Her sentencing in Franklin County court is scheduled for Friday.

“Authorities say Williams’ campaign committee bought a $2,255 pair of Buckeye tickets in 2010, ostensibly ‘for campaign volunteers.’ Williams then sold the tickets to a lobbyist and deposited the proceeds in her personal bank account. Under Ohio law, proceeds were the campaign’s property.'”

Daily Herald: Kane County Clerk JackĀ “Cunningham appeared in Kane Branch Court in St. Charles before Judge Elizabeth Flood. He paid a $500 fine and $45 in court costs. ‘I deserve the maximum,’ Cunningham told reporters afterward.”

“He said he was accessing work email on the iPhone and iPad, and that his personal emails were forwarded to his work email address. ‘ … I’m probably not the only person who has not quite kept up with technology,’ he said.”
